We are happy to present, "Working Towards Repairable Appliances and Electronics in Canada: Diagnosis, issues, and solutions to facilitate access to repair," a report from Équiterre that we are proud to have contributed research to.
Read here to learn about the obstacles preventing repair, what can make repair more accessible, and what stakeholders can begin to do to improve the situation. |
The Zero Waste Repair Events that emerged from an SRRI prototyping process demonstrated a tremendous unmet demand for repair and fostered a realization that a more systemic approach is needed. So, the Repair Working Group was formed made up of over a dozen (and growing) members whose purpose is to scale repair opportunities and foster supportive change in policy and production. The Group has convened to map out the current state of the repair landscape in Metro Vancouver and identify key barriers and opportunities to amplify repair. A commitment to develop a Lower Mainland Repair Model with centralized know-how, data collection, volunteer pools, and sponsorship has emerged.
